Charlene Cochran is a vocalist, band leader and independent voice
over artist. Charlene is a Washington native and her smooth vocal
style has been showcased on both coasts. In the D.C. area, Charlene
has performed at such venues as the Cellar Door, Charlie's Georgetown,
The One Step Down, the Washington Monument and has had several
long-running engagements at major hotels. Her work includes television
appearances and performances at the Kennedy Center. Charlene was
a semi-finalist in Baltimore's Billie Holiday jazz vocal competition
and majored in vocal performance and psychology in college. Charlene
was also awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts
for continuing jazz studies and has performed in various theater
productions.
As a radio personality, Charlene hosted her own news/interview
show, has been a favorite voice on popular commercials and also
directed promotions for two Virginia radio stations. When not performing
with "Fifth Avenue", Charlene performs with her jazz
ensemble. When time allows, she also enjoys singing with some of
the areas big band orchestras.
Charlene is currently working on her first cd which will include
traditional jazz favorites and some original selections.
